A Star Is Reborn!
ENCORE! is the campaign to restore The University's beloved Hogg Memorial Auditorium (HMA). Built in 1933, Hogg Memorial Auditorium was for many years the sole home for the performing arts at The University of Texas at Austin. Over the years, thousands of international touring artists, local arts organizations, and University students have performed in Hogg. We encourage you to submit your memories of Hogg below, or read those already submitted on our adjoining memories page.
Launched in the Fall of 2003, ENCORE! seeks to restore Hogg Memorial Auditorium to its original grandeur, giving the University of Texas and the Austin Community an elegant, state-of-the-art theatre and film house at the heart of the Forty Acres.
ENCORE! seeks to raise $12 million to completely restore Hogg Memorial Auditorium.
The importance of the timely renovation of Hogg Auditorium becomes critical with the fire and life safety renovation of Bass Concert Hall. Without a fully operational Hogg, the UT PAC would be left without a facility in which to present their artists and performances. Due to the lack of a suitable theatre, the Austin arts community would be seriously impacted for the duration of the closure.
