Citizen Cope Solo Acoustic Performance

Citizen Cope Solo Acoustic Performance
Hogg Memorial Auditorium
Friday, October 10th at 8:00 PM

Mark your calendars for this intimate solo acoustic performance from one of music’s most poetic souls! On October 10, Citizen Cope brings his unique mix of ‘70’s soul, folk, hip-hop and funk to Austin for one night only at the UT PAC's Hogg Memorial Auditorium.

Clarence Greenwood, a.k.a. Citizen Cope, takes snapshots of the world around him, turns them into universal truths and sets them to the simplest of melodies and soul-stirring grooves. Cope’s poignant tunes have been used in movie soundtracks and television commercials, and the song, “Sideways” was produced and sung by Cope on Carlos Santana’s multi-million selling album, “Shaman.” Citizen Cope digs into his three-album catalogue for this intimate solo acoustic performance.

Presented by C3 and UT Performing Arts Center

“The Shadow Box” interweaves the lives of three dramatically different terminally ill hospice patients and their loved ones to give a dynamic, well–rounded perspective of death and dying. They struggle to find meaning in their last moments on Earth, to leave legacies, to reassure themselves their lives were actually worth living. The play shows that even though death is a personal struggle, all human beings are bound together by the same fear of death. It's how each character deals with that fear that separates them.

Bold, original, surreal, disturbing, thought provoking and alarmingly funny, Assassins is perhaps the most controversial musical ever written. Told from the perspective of some of history’s most colorful characters -- people who have attempted to assassinate the President (and some who succeeded). This Sondheim musical makes us question the difference between being famous and being infamous.
